Flying Buffalo Inc. is a game company that was started in 1970 by Rick Loomis and Steve MacGregor. Their primary business is play by mail . That is, they act as the referee for multi-player, hidden-movement games that are played by the players sending their moves to Flying Buffalo every two weeks by postal mail, email, fax, or what ever. Their most popular play by mail game is the award-winning Starweb.

I just received my packet of all their game rules -- you can order the lot for $8, and it's useful to compare games and decide what to play. Just signed up for StarWeb. There's a waitlist of nine players so far, and the game needs 15, it seems, so hopefully others will join soon. Looking forward to it!
Well they've certainly got longevity on their side, haven't they? I remember playing Starweb with them in the 80's when it was postboxed through UK firms for Euro players. Great for diplomacy, if you like scheming, double-dealing, complex alliances and betrayals, plus you don't mind 'inventive' tactics. In those days it was all done on letters and postcards but I guess it's a little easier with email now. Playing in the anonymous variant myself at the moment, as I really can't spare the time for all that plotting right now!
