Hi there,
I'm about to make plans for the next game of WWII. It will be the third of the WWII Replayed Series (#1: 60th Anniversary Replay, #2: Open Warfare). The working title is "70th Anniversary Replay" and it was scheduled to start in August/September 2009 (70 years after WWII).
(Side note: a WWI variant has been proposed for many months and there are presently complications so there is additional player interest in a new WWII game to start well before August 2009)
People interested in play should look up the site
http://wwii.sepic.org and contact wwii@cynaps.org to pre-register (free of liabilities).
Also I have one BIG QUESTION:
Does anybody have past Flagship issues between 2000 and 2001 (must be between issue 70 and 90 somewhere)? There are at least two articles/"rumours from the front" in which game #1 is discussed. I lack the issues and would be very happy at least to know in which issue the game was mentioned (so I can get those issues) or a copy or scan of the articles. Please help me by perusing your old magazines (makes fun anyways after such a long time).
THANK YOU!
Jens Niemann
I deleted the thumbnail image attachment, and added the same image at full size at the end of your posting. It's easier to see, that way. I also added that image as a link on the front page, in one of the random ad scripts, so that it gets a little front page space from time to time, also.

I think the last issue with a full review was #108 in June/July '04, but assume you have this one. Will see if I can find anything more, and will be grateful for anyone else who can help...

Thank you Carol and GrimFinger.
The first Flagship article was written by David Ames of Scarborough, a dedicated wargamer. I have his pre-release on file from March 12, 2000 (I may put this here if somebody is interested), so the article must have come later than that.
There was also a player article in 2000 or 2001 by Shaun Frost I think and maybe a third short mentioning in Rumours from the Front. I know I had one of those Flagships but they got lost.

The WWII article by David Ames is in Flagship 85.
I knoew of Dave I played against him ina Napoleonic battle at Agema he lives just aoutside Scarborough like me....
jens, i think you need to update the website that your link takes potential new players to it, some areas are not working or broken.
Hate to say it but the white webpages are ones I made for dave the orignal owner of the game, in fact that was the original website....

The site itself has changed a bit over the time, as did the game name, from Openwar to Open War and finally Open Warfare. Also because the most recent game news were incorporated from time to time it was under constant change. I implemented as good as possible what I got from Dave Clay but obviously some bits are missing. No important bits, however. But I will give it a brush-up after I've properly set up in New Zealand.
Does anybody have a scan copy of the article in Flagship #85?
Jens
I'll have a look for you in my cupboards
