I'm interested.

Unfortunately the link to the rulebook just takes you back to the home page. I would like to understand more about the style and content of the game before signing up.

No, that link is not to the Madhouse home page. On the left hand side of that page is a link that says Download Rules. Here is the PDF file that it links to:

What I intended to convey was that the link to the pdf (given above) takes you back to the homepage, presumably because the resource does not exist. Certainly that is what happens when I try.

Have you been able to access the pdf?

Actually, I had not tried last night, as I was busy revamping the front page of the site here.

Having tried, now, by right clicking on the link and saving the file to my computer, what I downloaded was 34 Kbytes in size. But, when I went to open it, it yielded the following error message on my end:

Adobe Reader could not open 'supervillain_rules.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

I'll e-mail Steve at Madhouse, and let him know that there's a problem.
Here was Steve's e-mail response:
---------------------------------
We withdrew them for the time being. We're stalled on Supervillain at the
moment, but hope to relaunch later this year.

Madhouse may have put Supervillain on the back burner but they have also just announced a new game with a similar theme. Looks pretty interesting from my brief scan of the rules.

From the Madcentral website

Superpowers In A World Gone Mad
Imagine a game full of colourful, super-powered individuals who exist in an alternative version of the Earth we know.

In this new Earth;
the Nazis retreated to the moon after suffering a crushing defeat by the allies in the second world war,
Japan retaliated for Hiroshima by releasing the Helix Virus upon America,
Atlantis emerged from the North Sea and went to war with Ireland over disputed land rights,
Elvis’ Body was stolen by Martians and used as a prototype for a dangerous cyborg invader,
while Great Britain erected a force dome over itself and cut off completely from the outside world.

This is Abnormals, super-powers in a world gone mad.

Abnormals is an open-ended game turn-based Game (TBG).
It is available for both Freeplay and Commercial Play.
