Is there any likelihood of getting a version of the Galactic View listings on the site?

I'm not sure how out of date the information was in the later issues of Flagship but a community editable resource should help with being both current and broad based. Yes, I'm talking about a wiki again.......

Or maybe it is sufficient just to have a standard thread for each game with the content being re-edited as necessary?

Any thoughts?

Yeah, it's possible. I could always recreate one manually, though it is time consuming. The text size of the one in the magazine is too small, as far as I am concerned. It saves space and printing costs, I'm sure, though, for them to do it that way in the magazine.

A wiki is also possible, although I tend to dislike them, as there are not the most user friendly of things, and their initial learning curve puts many people off.

Off the top of my head, I am inclined to say that just having a non-forum page dedicated for the purpose, one that has tables to organize the listings, would suffice.
A forum based Galactic View could also work. Anyone could submit a new entry, and then an admin could take the newly submitted info and copy and paste it into a dedicated thread, and then delete the entry thread. That way, the entire Galactic View would always be in one single message. Though new messages would get added, they would also get deleted after the new info was incorporated into the existing Galactic View thread.

Does that make sense?
I'm happy with the idea of a forum based Galactic View. I would have liked to see small capsule reviews besides the other details but this may be too much for a single thread based format.

You may be right about the wiki idea and besides more of a community than exists at this time would be needed to sustain such a resource .
Sorry for bumping this thread, I came here looking for GV initially, and was surprised not to find it. I tried something similar, years ago, and found that there was just too much information to fit comfortably on a screen. Of course, another issue is keeping it updated, a struggle in itself.

Good point! Updating a listing is heavy, heavy... Few GMs will say when they've gone out of business... Carol
I had asked a while back via e-mail, Carol, back in October, about having you send me a copy of the Galactic View, and you said that you might have something in antique WordPerfect format. But, we got sidetracked after that.

If you can send me an old copy, I will try to go through and update it.

i'm currently updating the version we print in Flagship, but this'll take me a lot of time.
I'm not altogether sure about putting it up on the web when I've finished, though. It strikes me as an important resource for the printed magazine.
What do forum members think?

The print version is so small that I rarely ever look at it.

Yeah, always a problem, though I can read it when I need to - Carol
