I have often wanted to try out some board games mainly wargames, but I am open to any but I cannot find any groups or people where I live. Maybe we could start a thread so people could link up to play ?

Just a thought

I do the majority of my wargaming on line these days due to a lack of opponenets and never having more than a couple of consecutive hours free.

If you are a fan of CDG's (Card Driven Wargames) then a useful resource is ACTS - http://acts.warhorsesim.com/index.asp This site manages all the card drawing and playing involved in these games though you generally need another tool, usually Cyberboard or Vassal, to maintain a virtual the state of the game.

There are CDG's covering all the periods of warfare from Alexander & Hannibal right through to the Cold War. I own a lot of the games from this CDG genre and I'm always up for a game though I play quite slowly these days.

Fixed it!

Also the company producing the most CDG's at the moment is probably GMT, their website has more info on many of the games available at the ACTS website.
