E-Mail Games : Wargames from 280BC to Outer Space

At EMG we run strategic play by mail wargames and have completed over 900 games

Why Play Here

We've been running games on the Net since 1996 and have completed over 900+ games. So when you start a game here, it is going to be finished.

The games are FREE and the site is run through donations only.

The games can all be played from just the reports that get mailed out, but most games also have a Window program to assist in doing turn.

What Type of Game Do We Run

We run only strategic war games, no RPGs, no RTSs, no Online and no Web based games. If you've played board games such as Diplomacy, Risk, Stellar Conquest, Sword of the Samurai, Third Reich or Axis and Allies, you should be able to find a game here that you like.
  • Empire Forge is a low fantasy game where the aim is to unite a divided empire.
  • Empires of the Middle Sea is a game of conquest in 280 BC.
  • Global Diplomacy are Diplomacy variants on a map of the world with 11 players.
  • Imperium is a space conquest game with between 9-20 players.
  • Imperial Expansion is a space exploration and colonization game.
  • World at War is a WWII style game on a random map.

Looking for one more player to start a game of Empire Forge.

The game is high on fun and low on complexity but still has scope for diplomacy and at two turns per week it zips along nicely. As a final benefit it's also free!

might look at this when I get home currently on a laptop
As I told Carol recently I am looking for something..and maybe a PBEM game might be it.....

If anybody has played any of these recently if you can post which ones are the best, rate the companies, etc etc.It might help me.I might be moving in a month or two so I would like something where a lag wouldn't put me too far behind in the game. Thanks.

In terms of games at EMG I have played only Empire Forge & Empires of the Middle Sea.

Both are closed end games that last around 20-25 turns and so are pretty quick and in terms of complexity EF is quite simple, with an almost board game like feel, whereas EMS is about medium complexity.

On the negative side the provided interfaces are a bit clunky though quite usable. While on the positive side the games are free, friendly and well supported by the the GM who has been running them for 10+ years.
The latest Empire Forge game is filling up nicely with 8 of the twelve slots already taken.
