Campaigns of Centurion
If you haven’t tried Centurion yet, you owe it to yourself. It’s free, it’s good practice for Fall of Rome, and it’s a rush doing a turn in nine minutes max.
Campaigns of Centurion is a whole different deal though. Make if eight minutes max per turn, and increase the length to 15 turns, so a total maximum length of two hours. Put the game on a brand new and bigger map, restore all the orders from Fall of Rome, including all the political, covert, and economic orders, put in a new victory condition, and you can already see a lot of excitement and terrific potential.
But that’s not all! Perhaps the most exciting development for Campaigns of Centurion are the greatly increased role playing aspects of the game. You will choose not only your king’s name, but his (or her!) portrait, and customize it, changing hair, skin, and eye color. We have new portraits as well as the ones you are familiar with from Fall of Rome.
Wait, we’re just getting started! You will name all your starting characters and legions, or go with the default names if you prefer. You can name you capital as well. You will choose one additional character – agent, noble, or leader to add to your court. You will name your cohort, for example, “Marauders”, so in the case of the king of the forums, his position name would be “Maximus’ Mauraders” or if he preferred, “Marauders of Maximus”. Then we introduce companies, groups of say 500 elite warriors of various types, and you pick one of these types to be the company you start with and receive as reinforcements on occasion. Best of all, you create your brigade makeup by expending points. Want blazing speed? Go for it! Want incredible ranged weapon power? It can be done! How about a force that crushes pop center defenses like glass? Do it!
What happens after all this customization and decision making? You have created your cohort, and you play with that position each time you play Campaigns. As you win contests and with the passage of time, you will accumulate mod points that can be spent anywhere – adding characters or increasing the abilities of existing ones, increasing the morale or experience of a brigade, or perhaps adding a completely new one to your starting force. Increase your Rulership, or the defenses of your capital, it’s all possible.
Campaigns of Centurion is being made available during beta testing to all players with established accounts that are in at least one game of Fall of Rome. Once the testing is complete, Campaigns will be available free to players at the Commander or higher service levels.
