A new reader has just asked me if there are any PBM/PBeM games with a 'Colonial' theme - something like the Indian Mutiny or the Boer War. I can't think of any that are running at present, though I remember a few from the past. Can anyone help? - Carol
Hmmmm not that I know of, Agemas that they no longer run set in the 1800 was the only one I knew of.

Was this the Opium Wars one? It's all that I could think of myself, though I fancy that there was a Boer War one run from S Africa some years ago...
Thanks, Carol
think so it was colonial along the lines of LGDR....
Well Agema have developed a colonial game system with lots of pretty maps and in-depth stuff. It's ready to launch but probably won't until summer 2008, and will be a web-based game only.
It is NOTHING like our earlier attempts at Victorian/Imperialist colonist games, and an an entirely new system. It will naturally have a feel like the very successful Glory of Kings (uhm, because Agema's running it!) with a pdf format newspaper and the like, but I stress is completely new. It will be all about colonial expansion in the 1850s-1890s era and the graphics have the 'wow' factor!
A third party is developing the web side of this project, which is what is holding things up, and being web based we need to make sure it all works fine before launching it onto the public.
Be interestedto see this hope it gets sorted soon
Details of the new Agema colonial game entitled IMPERIAL DOMINATION launching later this year are up on the Agema website now!

Just a quick update... Imperial Domination, Agema's upcoming colonial Imperialist PBM/PBEM, is being prepared now to launch in either January or February 2009. We might release the game materials earlier to generate interest, but don't intend to run the game before the start of 2009.
It will be fairly simple to play, in stark contrast to our most recent release Wars of the Roses which is unashamedly complex. Imperial Domination will better suit players who want to take part in the game but don't want to get their head around unusual or detailed rules or systems! The new game, as it stands already, features lots of pretty full colour maps and the rules are also finished (but 'finished' in this context means they would run as they stand, but we're tweaking them!). The financial system is also sorted, and we have numerous flags and graphics ready to use.
The intention is to have Imperial Domination as a fairly painless game to play, The Glory of Kings (La Gloire du Roi) as middling in complexity, and for those who want complexity we have the Wars of the Roses, so hopefully they'll be something for everyone in the Agema campaigns games stable! (I say 'campaigns games' to differentiate these from our 'battle' tactical games Napoleonic Battles and Ancient Battles).
Anyway, if you want to be informed when Imperial Domination is released, please get in touch with us via the Agema website and we'll drop you an email when it is ready!
I had read something about Imperial Domination a while back, which made the game sound interesting. I'm not sure where, exactly, it was that I read it. If it will be 2009, then contact me, when it is ready, and I will look it over and consider it at that time.

OK - shall do! I suspect you read about Imperial Domination in Flagship earlier this year!
